The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will participate privately today in the premiere of La Bohème at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. The two highest state officials, both from Palermo, will thus be present at the show, in the Royal Box: yesterday it was the president of the Senate, Piero Grasso, who announced his presence. And it all happens on the day when the Theater broadcasts the opera in the square with a giant screen and an open-air audience of six hundred seats sold for the symbolic price of one euro. Another initiative to say that Theater belongs to everyone. President Mattarella will arrive at 8.20pm and will be welcomed at the foot of the steps by the prefect Francesca Cannizzo, by the president of the Teatro Massimo Foundation and mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando, by the superintendent of the Theater Francesco Giambrone. Journalists, operators, photographers, even if accredited for the show, due to safety and ceremonial provisions, will be able to witness his arrival but will not be able to follow him. “We welcome the President of the Republic and that of the Senate with great pride and joy – says Leoluca Orlando – even more so on a day in which the Theater reiterates that it is a great collective space, a place open to the whole city”. “We are all the more happy that President Mattarella is coming on a private visit – adds Superintendent Giambrone – because this is his Theatre, the Theater of his home, as we already said at the time of his election which we greeted with the performance of the Anthem of Mameli”.

Tutto esaurito stasera a Teatro e tutto esaurito anche nella platea all’aperto con posti a 1 euro. Un evento doppio che segna la ripresa della stagione del Massimo dopo le manifestazioni estive. Alle 19.30 l’apertura della Sala e delle transenne all’esterno: alle 20.30 l’inizio dello spettacolo, con un cast di eccezione: direttore è Pier Giorgio Morandi, regista Mario Pontiggia, le scene e i costumi sono di Francesco Zito. Mimì è Maria Agresta, soprano celebrato in Italia e all’estero, Musetta è Lana Kos, Rodolfo è Sergio Berrugi, Marcello è Vincenzo Taormina.
La bohème sul maxischermo all’aperto segna una tre giorni che, fino a domenica, vedrà un fitto programma di concerti e film, sempre a 1 euro. Domani il programma si apre alle 19, con il concerto Le Stagioni, musiche di Antonio Vivaldi (Le Quattro stagioni) e di Astor Piazzola (Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteña) con l’Orchestra del Teatro Massimo diretta da Simone Bernardini, accordeon Ruggero Mascellino. Alle 20.30 C’è Vucciria, concerto dei Sei Ottavi e del Coro di voci bianche del Teatro Massimo. Alle 22 film-concerto animato Partire dalla coda, video di Pierluigi Toccafondo con la musica di Simeon ten Holt e i musicisti del Conservatorio Bellini di Palermo.
Domenica una non stop video, dalle 18 alle 24 (in questo caso biglietto di 1 euro per tutto) con spettacoli amatissimi dal pubblico: alle 18 la Tosca del 2014 diretta da Daniel Oren, regia di Mario Pontiggia, con l’Orchestra, il Coro e il Coro di voci bianche del Massimo; alle 20.30 la Nona di Beethoven del 2001 diretta da Zubin Mehta con l’Orchestra e il Coro del Massimo; alle 22 il balletto Romeo e Giulietta del 2014 con la coreografia e regia di Massimo Moricone.
